As with most things in Photoshop, you can work with layers in many ways. You can reach commands by going to the Layer menu at the top of the screen or by accessing the hidden commands on the Layers palette. Use whichever system is more comfortable for you. Layers can be moved, duplicated, and copied. The stacking order also can be changed by dragging individual layers up and down in the Layers palette. Just remember that certain things can’t be done to the Background layer because it’s automatically locked.
To unlock it, just change its name to something other than Background. Layer blending modes provide another way of working with layers. By using blending modes, we can quickly fix overexposed and underexposed images. This is just the beginning of the usefulness of blending modes. Just like what an infographic company uses to create good infographics.
